Funding Updates

Sturgis International Fellowship for International Research or Internships: Apply by March 1

This award grants up to 10 scholars per year $15,000 in support for longer-term research or internship-focused study abroad (defined as at least four continuous months outside of the United States). To apply, students must be full-time graduate students pursuing a degree anchored in Fulbright College or rising junior or senior Fulbright College Honors undergraduates with a declared major in Fulbright College.

SREB Dissertation Award for Underrepresented PhDs: Apply by March 31

The Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) has funding available for the one-year Dissertation Award that it offers to students who are enrolled in PhD programs and are planning to become a full-time college or university faculty member after earning the PhD.  The award would back-date to start in January 2018.

It offers a one-year, $20,000 stipend, payment of tuition and fees, a $500 research allowance and professional development support, and covers expenses associated with attending the annual Compact for Faculty Diversity Institute on Teaching and Mentoring:  https://www.sreb.org/types-awards

Subjects Wanted for Research Study to Evaluate Personal Health

A study is seeking adults between 18-55 years old with no chronic illness or injury. This study will involve four visits to the Exercise Science Research Center; 1-3 periods of 24-hour nutrition monitoring. Subjects who qualify for this study will receive $20 to $320 for participating. For details or to sign up, contact Annelise Zaring at anzaring@email.uark.edu.

Volunteers Needed for Parent and Child Nutrition Study: $100 Compensation

The Hydration Science Laboratory is conducting a parent and child nutrition study with parents ages 20-50 and children ages 3-13 with compensation of $100. This study is conducted under the direction of Stavros Kavouras. The protocol has been approved by the University of Arkansas Institutional Review Board for Human Subjects in Research.

ImaginePhD is a free online career exploration and planning tool for PhD students and postdoctoral scholars in the humanities and social sciences. ImaginePhD allows users to assess their career-related skills, interests, and values and to explore careers appropriate to their disciplines. The tool includes a goal setting application that enables users to map out next steps for career and professional development to achieve their goals.
